Abiola Akintola
“My experience of life is the sponge for creating images as words. Painting for me is a form of writing as if composing a painted sentence. Each painting brings something different to my understanding.” Ultimately, my paintings are documents mapping the components of thoughts and memory; easier to see than explain, embodying my belief of freedom, versatility and open mindedness needed for new creations.” Abiola, originally from Nigeria, now makes his home in Chicago, IL.

Felicia Grant Preston
“My work is a reflection of deep spirituality, my identity as a black woman and my love of color. When I am creating, I feel more in the presence of God. I want to evoke deep feelings in the viewer, whether it is through the images or colors. Much of my work is mixed media, because it allows me to layer my colors, and to bring my viewers closer to the work. As you experience each layer, you experience my joy”.
